Approach to Therapy
Tracy’s counseling approach is person-centered, meaning that she takes a nondirective, empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. Trauma-informed, Tracy prefers to focus on the client’s story- “what happened to you” - instead of “what is wrong with you.”
Tracy works collaboratively with clients to identify goals, strengths, and the steps toward greater self-awareness, healing, empowerment, fulfillment, and personal growth.
Tracy incorporates various counseling techniques and therapies to meet individual needs, including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She uses these techniques to teach clients to challenge and change unhelpful thinking patterns and to practice mindfulness skills.
Tracy has training and experience with somatic and attachment-focused eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (S.A.F.E. EMDR), which provides relief and healing from disturbance related to memories, experiences, and trauma.
Tracy is willing to think outside the box and make adjustments during treatment to facilitate maximum benefit and progress.
Tracy aspires to ensure her clients feel comfortable, safe, accepted, understood, validated, inspired, and encouraged.
