Professional Experience
Jill has been counseling individuals, families and couples since 1997. She has helped those experiencing stress related to personal growth and life changes, as well as those who've experienced severe trauma resulting in anxiety, depression and relational discord. Jill has helped clients examine issues such as purpose and meaning, personal boundaries, underlying fear, and perfectionist thinking. She is passionate in working with couples and providing sound empirically validated assessment and treatment.
Approach to Therapy
Jill's down-to-earth approach eases discomfort regarding the counseling process. Employing a tender heart and persistent nature, she collaborates with clients to make wanted changes. While being sensitive to one's readiness for change, she's not hesitant to ask tough questions, admitting she has employed the same tactics with challenges in her own life. Believing that our thought processes impact everything--our feelings, life choices and experiences---Jill helps clients to find helpful ways to take in and think about life.
Since physical problems have an emotional impact and psychological and relational problems often manifest themselves physically, Jill takes a holistic approach in assessing the problem and barriers to growth. Considering our emotional, behavioral and relational issues with regard to our beliefs and physical health, enables us to find the greatest support in overall health.
Jill routinely works with clients in the following areas:
A native of Jefferson City, Jill returned to her hometown after spending over a decade in the St. Louis and Chicago suburbs. She and Dr. Richard Lillard have two children, Sawyer and Sophie. Jill enjoys reading, exercise, and organizing in her spare time. She has been actively involved on the steering team of Mothers of Preschoolers, as well as founded Inspire, a non-denominational group designed to equip women to better serve their families and community. Like many working mothers, Jill strives to gracefully balance her profession and family.
